The video clips and streaming movies are streamed using Windows Media Player. Mac users will not be able to access these movies due to DRM (Digital Rights Management) embedded into the files. No surprises there, but I also had trouble getting any of this to work in the Firefox browser. Internet Explorer 7 handled everything fine, however, and Windows users should have no problem although they may need to download various media plug-ins if not already installed. Movies can be watched at 300k or 800k depending on connection and can also be watched at full screen, although of course this reduces the quality. As with all sites, for the best streaming experience, you need to be a little tech savvy and if you don’t understand terms like “fast cache” and “codec” you could find things a little frustrating when your hard-on is lubed and your fingers are too sticky for the keyboard.

Cased in cargo greens and browns, the site has an authentic, raunchy feel to it. Page layout is fair, but some poking around is required. On the plus side, I didn’t see a single pop-up - and no ads!

Navigating Active Duty takes a little exploring and not entirely intuitive with similar products found in various places on the site (e.g. videos) which could be grouped together. Another issue I noticed is that once you click on the “Video Store” or “Pay-per-view” links, the regular navigation bar disappears and you have to click the “back” button to get back on track. Clicking the “home” button at this point, just brings you to the pay-per-view home, not the top of the navigation tree. Multiple sign-ins are required to access various parts of the site and it’s not obvious why this is required once you’re already signed in as a member.

Pretty straightforward billing with no obvious billing traps. It should be noted there is a “pay-per-view“ option which is in addition to the monthly fee.

Having said that you only pay for what you watch, and there are three options to choose from: pay per minute, 48-hour rental, or straight download. With pay per minute, you basically buy time and movies start as low as 8.5 cents per minutes. Fifteen minutes of Kleenex cum- fun will set you back $3.95 (minimum purchase) or you can buy 1000 minutes for $84.95. Whichever option you choose, you pay upfront and money is deducted based on the choices you make. Though it costs more, it’s probably more convenient than having to drive down to your local adult store – where you also risk running into your damned ex.

Active Duty hosts more Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell “straight” guy sex than you could shake a stick at! Overall, a pretty decent site which should satisfy any urgent craving you may develop for some military ass - but I would prefer to see less emphasis on “for sale” products and more of the free stuff.
